What can I do about my cat acting out?

I have a ten year old cat. He has always been very friendly and well behaved, but I recently brought a kitten into the home. She often pesters him, and he has now been growling (Which he has never done before) and biting. He and the kitten often fight but now he is lashing out at the other people in the household. What can I do?
