Do i need to take chemistry to become a chef?

I want to go to cooking school, i think, or at least look into it and i dont know if i need chemistry. I dropped out of the nursing program because i had two sucky chemistry teachers in a row, and i was just lost and i couldnt p it :( So im wondering, do i have to do it either way? It just, doesnt make sense in my head. I can do algebra and stuff, but chemistry, is my worst subject. Does anyone know if id have to take it?
