Women's role in the 1950s?

In the 1920s and 1930s, women gained more freedom and more women were working and women were fighting for more rights and American society became more tolerant and liberal. But in the 1950s, all of these trends reversed themselves, women lost employment freedom, society became more conservative and intolerant and women were expected to stay at home and were harshly shunned by society if they didn't.
