technically,it will still decode. they soon wont transmit any HD on that bandwidth (ka) they have to compress it too much to actually be called HD. All the HD content is currently be broadcast on their (ku) bandwidth which is a better format for their "new" mpeg 4 receivers. All new customers get mpeg4 if they choose to get a dvr, HD or not. Also supposed to get a slimline (ka/ku) dish. You should go ahead and upgrade even though you'll still get HD through the old format for quite sometime. Your bargaining power is stronger if you push the upgrade instead of waiting until you have no choice
