How can I set up DIY drainage from back door to incline of driveway? I'm thinking of flex tubing and siphon?

effect. Like when you siphon gas out of one gas tank into another container. I figure if I can get the siphon going, it will continue to pull excess water from back door area thru tubing and onto incline of driveway...and from there to the street. I tested siphon hose with pot of water, but couldn't keep the flow going. What is wrong? Thanks.
