Can anybody help me go around SF taking the cable car?

I know that there are 3 cable car lines. I want to know how to take the cable car starting from powell/market going to all those touristy places - golden gate, fisherman's wharf, crookedest st, palace of fine arts, ghirardelli square, etc. what do i do to go to all of these. how do i transfer ? if you could give me point by point instruction as i'm really bad with directions. thanks.!
